"Secret" routes are numbered routes maintained by the state, but not signposted. These routes are numbered in the 400s through 900s. Signed "non-secret" routes are numbered in the 300s and lower. I've collected these routes from official Connecticut highway logs, town maps, state highway department documents, newspaper articles, and "the Spreadsheet": a nearly complete list of route changes from 1933 to 2000. I've even spotted some routes on commercial maps that have blown their cover. Before I had found these sources, however, Neil Kelly provided me dozens of street names from maps he found, and Paul Schlictman added "dates spotted" for several other routes. Hats off to them both.

Sometimes official sources conflict with each other (or even internally). Some information on 1930s routes may be difficult or impossible to obtain; in that case, "somewhere in (town name)" may be all I have.

Notes on 670/670A/670B

The sources conflict a bit here. The 1953 Day article looks a little more credible: State will agree to take over Brook St (1.9 miles) when reconstructed; and at same time Groton will accept:
