I don't know if this 0.22-mile connector from Route 138 to Route 165 was ever signed. It was designated in 1935, and survived until 1962, but only appeared on state maps in the mid-1940s.

Was Route 138A an old alignment of Route 138? I haven't found evidence of that. Main Street (current Route 138) already existed in the 19th century and would have been a more direct route through town.
