CT 77
  • Length 13.85 miles
  • From Route 146 in Guilford
  • To Route 17 in Durham

For a scenic drive, you cannot go wrong with Route 77: its entire length is a state scenic road. The Danbury News-Times writes:

"Start at the shore and then head for the hills on this 11.5-mile scenic country road, running from Guilford Center north to the town of Durham. See turn-of-the-century farmhouses, crooked old barns and picturesque meadows. There's even a pond along the West River where you can fish, canoe or simply take in the scenery."

CT 77 History

Route 77 was commissioned in 1932, from part of the old State Highway 112. Its original length was 13.92 miles, slightly longer than now.

In 1962, one block of Whitfield Street in Guilford was added to Route 77; but it's not yet clear whether this was an extension, a move, or a change in maintenance.
